SIX leading experts from the forefront of Ireland’s growing marketing industry have been appointed by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) to its new-look Ambassador-led board to help drive activities in Ireland.

One of the longest serving current board members, Nicola McCleery, who is head of marketing at Danske Bank, will drive awareness and the dissemination of information relating to the Chartered Marketer Standards (CIM is the only organisation in the world with the ability to award Chartered Marketer status).

Nicola, who has won five CIM Ireland Marketing Awards, says: “The Chartered Institute of Marketing has been there for me throughout my career and is a community I get so much from.

"Becoming chartered in 2012 is a personal commitment and signal to others that I hold myself accountable for maintaining the core and technical standards of a professional marketer, enabling me to compete with the challenges of working in the fast-moving marketing sector.”

She added: “Over the past year CIM has supported me in improving my knowledge of the new data protection legislation, new market research opportunities and of course, the challenge of pitching my skills against others via the Ireland Marketing Awards.

"I have been involved in CIM’s ‘Get on in Marketing’ sessions, focused on those starting out on their education and chartered journey, and I look forward to more events and campaigns supporting people on their professional marketing journey.

"Ultimately marketing is about creating and developing new business opportunities and good marketing is good business – an outcome I also feel passionately about. I look forward to giving more back to an organisation that has supported me over ten years,” she said.

Dr Lisa Harkness is currently CIM Ireland’s vice-chair, and the board will offer strategic input and operational support to myself as CIM Ireland network manager.

The Ambassadors are the region's brightest marketing professionals, so I'm delighted to have them on board. By appointing experts from all sectors and disciplines from PR to product marketing and academia to analytics, they are able to fully represent Ireland's thriving marketing community. And this will allow us to build a more relevant and superior CIM experience for marketers and businesses here.”

The six CIM Ireland Ambassadors are: Stephen Allen (Food and Drink Sectoral Ambassador), Peter Craven, Eileen Curry and Kathryn Pyper (Education Ambassadors), Nicola McCleery (Chartered Ambassador) and Alastair Chambers (Construction Sectoral Ambassador).
