REGIONAL broadcaster UTV has confirmed it will put Havelock House up for sale.

The media company has called its Ormeau Road headquarters home for almost six decades, but last week announced it will move to new premises in Belfast's Harbour Estate.

ITV plc, who acquired UTV in February last year, has confirmed Havelock House is to be put on the market, but would not disclose further details.

It is expected the site will attract substantial interest as office space, with the the on-site car parking a key selling point, along with the central location.

A new £17m apartment complex, 'Portland 88' is currently under construction beside Havelock House on the Ormeau Road.

"We are intending to put Havelock House on the market, but we aren't in a position to give guidance at this stage about redevelopment," an ITV spokesperson said.

Havelock House has been the home of UTV since the station opened in 1959 and the building also houses the company’s radio station U105.

The broadcaster will move to the top floor of new City Quays 2 development at Belfast Harbour Estate, which is to be transformed into the channel’s new headquarters by June 2018.
