McDonald’s at Donegall Place has re-opened following a £750,000 investment to transform the restaurant and create a new customer experience.

The restaurant, which currently employs 90 staff, is adding a further 16 full and part time positions and has been revamped to seat 190 customers.

The transformation has seen the introduction of a number of customer-facing technology which includes touch screen kiosks allowing customers to browse the menu, order their food and pay by card or contactless.

Free-to-use tablets have also been installed at a number of tables for customers who want to check their newsfeed and emails or play their latest games.

Franchisee Paul Connan said: “This new digital technology allows us to deliver even quicker service to customers and provide them with an even better experience.”

All 27 McDonald’s restaurants in Northern Ireland will be fitted with this new technology within the next three years.

McDonald’s opened its first restaurant in Belfast in 1991 and Northern Ireland now has 27 restaurants employing more than 2,100 people locally.
