A BIG HELLO to the Luddite and the tech-savvy alike, you're all every welcome to the Guide to Irish.

Féideartheachtaí gan teorainn means limitless possibilities and that is what most of us carry about with us in our pockets.

The Bluffer was easily able to find an Aldi store in Dundalk last week – you can read about it later – because his guthán póca - mobile phone has Google maps on it and that’s where he got the treoracha - directions which is just as well as friends and family will tell you,  níl ceann maith treonna air - he has no sense of direction.

But léarscáileanna - maps isn’t the only thing that makes life easier for the Bluffer and the rest mankind.

It helps with all aspects of life including a chuid oibre - his work, siamsaíocht - entertainment, oideachas - education, nascanna le daoine eile - links to other people, a chruthaitheacht - his creativity and so much more.

You could almost say that most of the Bluffer’s life is contained within the confines of his iPhone but luckily he is the kind who likes human company but having said that, he can have chats and conversations over the endless ardáin - platform that are connecting us to our nearest and dearest - and, sadly, with the boss too!

So what are the aipeanna - apps on your phone?

The Bluffer likes to keep his apps together in comhaid - folders.

One is called Amharc - watch so it has the Seinnteoir TG4 - the TG4 Player as well as the BBC iPLayer, Netflix etc.

Another folder is Éist - listen and that has Spotify, BBC Sounds, Raidió Fáilte, RTÉ Radio (which includes Raidió na Gaeltachta) and so on.

The Bluffer is also active on na meáin shóisialta - social media

so that file contains the likes of Facebook, twitter, Whatsapp and Instagram),

The Bluffer considers himself a bit of a grianghrafadóir - a photographer so he has apps that help him take stunning pictures of his breakfast, dinner and lunch to entertain (zzzz) his friends with.

That said, the Bluffer has some gorgeous photos of his trips to Beijing, Hanoi and Portnablagh.

Which brings him to another file, Taisteal - travel which helps the Bluffer get about, from the Aer Lingus app for laethanta saoire - holidays to Translink to get him up and down the road or on train journeys to all the exciting places that trains in the north go to nowadays.

But "oh, Jerry, don’t let’s ask for the Glider. We have the stars" and there’s an app called Star Walk 2 which names na pláinéid - the planets and réaltbhuíonta - constellations when you point your phone to the sky.

He has the app created by the local chippy from which he orders fish suppers; kindle for him to read books when he is on the bus; Hive so he can turn the heating of when the kids have the house like a sauna in the Sahara and he also has internet banking where he can check his meagre funds by using his fingerprint. And of course, there is the one he uses most - the Irish News app!
