1. When did you think about a career in music/comedy and what were your first steps into it?

I was brought up by my grandparents, who instilled a love of music. My grandfather was a pastor and I sang regularly in church. Our home was like a train station with people coming and going. There was also lots of food and music. It was Mozart and Joplin one moment and then Jim Reeves or gospel music the next. I signed a record deal with Island when I was 17 and due to my age had to get my grandfather to countersign.

2. Best gigs you've been to?

Bruce Springsteen at Earl's Court. I remember a car came out of the middle of the stage, it was just ridiculous. Michael Jackson, Live at Wembley in 1988. I remember standing at the side of the stage in the wings, watching him from that close proximity, equally watching Prince's Lovesexy Tour in 1989 was insane.

3. Fantasy wedding/birthday party band?

Marvin Gaye, Prince, Michael Jackson, Al Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Chaka Khan and I wouldn't mind being in it too.

4. The record you'd take to a desert island?

Come Live with Me by Marvin Gaye. It's my favourite track of all time. I've told people that when I die to play it at my funeral. That's my song.

5. And the book you'd take to a desert island?

Anything by Arno Gruen. He's my favourite author. I've read all his psychology books, including The Insanity of Normality.

6. Top three films?

The Matrix was awesome, the first Alien film and Jenga.

7. Worst film you've seen?

Anything that is a sequel is usually crap.

8. Favourite authors?

Arno Gruen and Robert Bauval, a Belgian archaeologist who writes about all things to do with ancient civilisation.

9. Sport you most enjoy?

I love running. There's nothing better than jumping on the treadmill.

10. Ideal holiday destination?

Jamaica, Italy and the south of France are my three favourite places. I couldn't choose between them.

11. Pet hates?

Selfishness, non-caring, non-empathy and self-absorbed people. And unfortunately many people in power and authority are the ones that are self-absorbed. People that don't care about others are a fungus.

12. What's your favourite:

Dinner? Jamaican jerk chicken.

Dessert? Crème brûlée, it's the only dessert I like.

Drink? Château Gaby white wine.

13. Who is your best friend and how do you know each other?

Shea and Stuart, who I've known for 28 years through work. They are my go-to boys for advice.

14. Is there a God?

Absolutely. Whether you call it God or a higher power there is this all knowing thing. To me God is the ocean.

Mica Paris will be appearing in Celebrity MasterChef Christmas Cook-Off tomorrow, Thursday December 23, at 9pm on BBC One.
