Advice for fans going to the Ed Sheeran concert in Belfast

If you're heading to the Ed Sheeran gig at the Boucher Road in Belfast next week, you'll want to read this advice from the concert promoters.

• The venue will open at 5pm on the day of the show - Wednesday May 9


• If you leave the venue re-entry will not be possible


• The support acts are Anne-Marie, Jamie Lawson & Beoga and stage times are:


5:45pm Beoga


6:30pm Jamie Lawson


7:30pm Anne Marie


8:45pm Ed Sheeran 



Age policy:

  • Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian attending the event who will remain with them
  • One adult can accompany up to 4 children
  • There will be free tag-a-kid safety wristbands available at all customer care points outside and inside the venue. Parents/guardians with young children are encouraged to avail of these white wristbands which allow you to write a contact number and seat number if applicable
  • Prams are not allowed into the venue
  • Parents are advised not to bring young children but if you are bringing a baby or toddler you must sign a disclaimer form on admission. A ticket is required for every concert attendee including babies and toddlers

Forbidden items:

  • Umbrellas, large lens professional cameras, any form of video recorder, flag poles, selfie sticks, sticks for banners, any article that may be used as a weapon, bottles, glass vessels, cans, flasks, Frisbees and related items, dangerous or hazardous items, illegal substances, vapes, scooters, skateboards, or other skates, laser devices, prams/pushchairs, inflatable and folding chairs, suitcases, laptops, illegal merchandise items, hampers and cold boxes, air horns and animals (except service dogs and guide dogs)
  • Only bring a bag if it is essential. People without bags will be fast-tracked. If you must bring a bag it needs to be less than A4 size. Bags under A4 size will be subject to a search which will result in queueing. No bags larger than A4 size will be allowed into the venue nor will you be allowed to leave them unattended anywhere in the venue
  •  You can bring small 35mm cameras and small banners (A4 or A3 size) 

Entry requirements: 

  • For tickets purchased online: To gain access to the concert you are required to bring your tickets along with the purchasing credit card or a photo/photocopy of the credit card and a valid form of ID to reflect family name
  • For tickets purchased in outlets: Whether you have paid by cash or credit card your name will be printed on your tickets and you will be required to bring valid ID matching the name printed on the ticket, or a photocopy

Venue facilities:

  • You can bring your own food and soft drinks - no alcohol, glass or flasks allowed. All soft drinks must be unopened with the seal intact and only plastic cutlery is allowed
  • BBQs, including disposal BBQs, are not permitted
  • Food and drink will be on sale. You must have proof of age if you want to purchase alcohol
  • Drinking water fountains will be available across the site
  • It's a no smoking venue and vaping is not allowed either. Anyone caught smoking or vaping will be escorted from the venue
  • There will be first aid areas 

Getting to and from the concert venue:


The main thing is that there is no parking at the south Belfast venue. Concert goers are asked to park in town and either walk or use public transport to reach the Boucher Road.

Metro Bus Service:

  • Translink Metro will be running a bus from Donegall Square East to a location close to the concert venue
  • The shuttle service will operatea on a first come, first served basis
  • This is the Metro Service 92
  • Outbound shuttles will operate from 15.10 to 19.34 every 12 minutes
  • Return shuttles will operate from 22.15 to 23.42 every 3 minutes
  • Metro bus service to city centre after the concert leaves from Stockman's Lane

Coach

  • Translink will be providing a return coach service from a number of locations across Northern Ireland

Rail

  • The nearest train station is Balmoral and the venue is slightly over half a mile away which should be reachable by foot in 12 minutes
  • Patrons can book online for day return rail travel to Ed Sheeran, which covers outward journey from your departure station to Balmoral Rail Station and return journey from Balmoral Rail Station to your chosen destination
  • Rail shuttle services will operate from 22.45 to 23.45
  • Online bookings close at 2pm on Monday May 7
  • Tickets will be available to purchase at the following stations: Portadown, Lurgan, Lisburn, Great Victoria Street, Central, Carrickfergus, Coleraine and Bangor

Private coach

  • Private coaches will drop off and pick up on Balmoral Road
  • Private coaches will be permitted to park on Balmoral Road during the concert
  • It is a 2- 5 minute walk to the concert venue from this location  

Taxis

  • Taxi drop-offs will be located at Apollo Road/Wild Flower Way and the lay-by close to the King's Hall on Lisburn Road
  • It is an estimated 10-15 minute walk from Apollo Road/Wild Flower Way to the concert venue
  • It is an estimated 15–20 minute walk from King's Hall to the concert venue
  • Taxi drop-offs will not be permitted in any other areas in the vicinity of the venue
  • It is anticipated that there will be traffic congestion and traffic diversions on Boucher Road after the concert. There will not be any pick up points close to the concert venue

Airport– Belfast International Airport

  • Short and long-term car parking is available and the airport is open 24 hours
  • Distance from airport to taxi drop-off point at King's Hall is 22.2 miles via the A57 and M2

  • Airport opening hours are  04.30-22.00 and parking is 24 hours. Short and long-term parking is available

Parking Information

  • There is no parking available in the vicinity of the venue. Patrons are advised to park in the city centre and either walk to the concert or use public transport
  • The area will be monitored by NSL Parking Enforcement and illegally parked cars may be clamped or towed away
  • Parking is available at the following car parks which are open 24 hours
