BUILDING bridges between music and architecture is the theme of Nicholas Boyle's new composition premiering at the Crescent Arts Centre on October 2.

Entitled Bridges: A String Suite, the work – to be performed by the Arco String Quartet – draws inspiration from "observations and encounters" at Belfast's bridges.

Boyle describes it as a reimagining of the bridges in musical form. Each of the eight works refer to bridges which span the River Lagan. Fellow artists and guests at the evening include composers, Keith Acheson and Chris McCann, photographic artist, John Duncan and poet, Manuela Moser.
