1. When did you think about a career in music and what were your first steps into it? I remember wanting to be in a guitar band from around the age of 10 or 11 at school. I decided to move to London around 1989 where I landed a job working in a recording studio as an assistant engineer. I left after three years to form a band and write songs.

2. Best gigs you’ve been to? Live Aid (1985) was pretty special to be a part of. Nirvana at Reading festival (1992) and Tom Petty in Hyde park (2017) also stick in the mind.

3. Fantasy wedding/birthday party band? Something old school like Beastie Boys, American hip-hop group Run-DMC and Chic to get the the party started.

4. The record you’d take to a desert island? Fleetwood Mac's Rumours as it reminds me of my childhood and is a such a great album.

5. And the book? Something classic like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain or Moby Dick by Herman Melville.

6. Top three films? One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Deer Hunter and Jaws or maybe I should choose Star Wars. All classics and I never get tired of watching them.

7. Worst film you’ve seen? Jaws 4 was absolutely dreadful. It had terrible acting and the plot was awful.

8. Favourite authors? I really like Charles Bukowski, Ian Rankin and Japanese writer Haruki Murakami.

9. Sport(s) you most enjoy and top team(s)? I like rugby as I was born in Newport so the Gwent Dragons and Wales rugby union team. Newport County AFC are doing well also in the football.

10. Ideal holiday destination? I love Japan, especially Kyoto, Tokyo and Fukuoka but closer to home I also enjoy Mallorca and mainland Spain.

11. Pet hate? People littering. There is no need.

12. What’s your favourite:

Dinner? Japanese.

Dessert? Raspberry crumble with custard or hot chocolate soufflé with green tea ice cream.

Drink? Wine and Patrón Añejo Tequilla.

13. Who is your best friend and how do you know each other? Brian Sperber, who I met when I was around 12 growing up in Wales. He moved there with his family from New Jersey in the USA and we played in bands and listened to music together. He went on to be a music engineer, mixer and producer and has worked on many albums, as well as Feeder over the years. We also recorded a majority of my solo album, Yorktown Heights, at his home studio in New York together.

14. Is there a God? God only knows.

:: Feeder's new album Tallulah will be released on August 9. The band top the bill at the Shoreline Music Festival in Enniskillen Castle on August 11, with special guests The Logues and support by Rory and the Island. Tickets from Eventbrite.co.uk
