TAKING place at McHugh's in Belfast on Friday March 29, Has Pop Really Eaten Itself? will be a three-part event focusing on lyrics, political ideas and the art of songwriting.

Part of the Imagine! Belfast Festival of Ideas, the evening hosted by Eileen Walsh will feature an interactive discussion with prizes sponsored by Comic Book Guys, Little Acorns Bookstore and The Donegal Shop, followed by live music from Scream Blue Murmur and One Night in Babylon and a DJ set from DJ Troya.

Guest on the discussion panel include former Faithless man Dave Randall, author of Sound System: The Political Power of Music, Brian Coney from music 'zine The Thin Air, Gordon Hewitt from Scream Blue Murmur, harpist Ursula Burns and singer-songwriter Paul J Fox AKA Coastal.

"It is so rare these days that people are blown away by great pop lyrics," explains Walsh.

"I thought it was worth a discussion and have pulled together an immensely impressive panel to offer their take on the situation. We’re also hoping to make the evening as interactive as possible, so there will be lots of great prizes on the night for the audience. We want to hear about lyrics that were life-changing and songs that were inspirational."
