Just announced: Stiff Little Fingers, Damned & Buzzcocks for Belfast

SLF will be celebrating their 40th birthday in style this August with an outdoor all-punk gig in Belfast

HAVING successfully 'put the fast in Belfast' last summer with their huge sold-out show at Custom House Square, original Ulster punks Stiff Little Fingers have decided to do it all over again this year.

The Stiffs will once again headline the outdoor event to be held at the same spot on August 25 – and, having brought The Stranglers and The Ruts with them last time, they've tapped up a few more like-minded buddies to perform supporting duties.

Thus, the mighty Damned will get to play their first ever outdoor show (probably) in the north, on a bill which also includes Mancunian pop punk pioneers the Buzzcocks and Belfast's very own Defects.

Of course, you can't have an old-skool punk rock shindig in this town without Good Vibrations man Terri Hooley being involved in some capacity. Hooley will be DJing between bands to help keep the atmosphere suitably anarchic, so if you've any requests for him, be sure to keep them to yourself.

The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that this Belfast punk rock extravaganza clashes with Public Image Limited's gig in Bangor as part of the Open House Festival – the former Johnny Rotten's first ever northern gig, no less.

Clearly, hard choices will have to be made: just remember that, like the man says, anger is an energy.

See you up there (again).

:: Tickets priced £27.50 go on-sale this morning at 9am via Ticketmaster outlets.
