THE first acts have been announced for this year's Belfast Comedy Festival (BCF), which will take place at various venues between October 2 and October 8.

Critically acclaimed comedians such as John Bishop, Rubberbandits, Henning Wehn, Joel Dommett and Bec Hill will join local talents like Tim McGarry, Terry McHugh, Mary Flanigan and Caz Brennan at the festival, which is now in its sixth year.

'Internet sensations' Father Michael and Kathleen will also make their Belfast debut during BCF, as will award-winning US sketch duo The Pajama Men.

Sketch comedy will be well represented by local acts Those Who Can’t, The Laughing Gnomes and The Sick Sense, while the programme will also include Three's a Shroud, a new play written by Stephen Large and directed by Martin Lynch, plus workshops, seminars, circus, film, quizzes, competitions and events for children.

More acts will be announced in the run-up to the official festival launch on October 2.
