BELFAST flautist Sir James Galway has issued a special invitation to his native city for his biggest ever homecoming concert.

‘A Special Audience with Sir James Galway’ is part of the Ulster Orchestra’s 50th anniversary celebrations, when and Sir James and his wife Lady Jeanne Galway – also an internationally renowned classical flautist – will be joined by the orchestra's principal flautist Colin Fleming.

The concert will see Sir James play melodies including Bizet’s Carmen Fantasy and the Star of the County Down. He will be joined by the Ulster Orchestra and the evening will include stories from throughout his life and career.

The flautist, from Belfast’s York Road, said the city had always been close to his heart.
