KASABIAN get active again with a brand new album, For Crying Out Loud, heading our way on April 28. The taster single to get you in the mood is the brilliantly titled You’re In Love With A Psycho.

This is the first new material from Leicester City’s coolest fans since the 48:13 album appeared in the summer of 2014. You’re In Love With A Psycho bears all their welcome hallmarks – a pulsing glam-rock riff, distorted vocals, ironic lyrics and an absolute killer chorus.

Tom Meighan’s voice possesses its usual ‘attack’ while Serge Pizzorno chips in with his customary dual onslaught of pin sharp backing vocals and fierce fret work. The new album also remains true to the band’s tendency to come up with the odd enigmatic and eccentric song title – over the years we’ve been treated to the likes of Processed Beats, The Doberman, Acid Turkish Bath and Eez-eh – there is a track on For Crying Out Loud called Bless This Acid House which simply has to be the song of the year... however it sounds.

Kasabian are playing a selection of intimate shows in the run up to the album’s release and one of those gigs takes place at Dublin’s Olympia on April 22. To herald the return of one of music’s most exciting and endearing acts, let’s highlight five of Kasabian’s finest moments.

1. Underdog – from West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.

A vicious riff from Serge of which Jimmy Page would have been infinitely proud. Sounding like all of the band’s classic rock reference points and indie influences spewed out in one glorious go.

2 Club Foot – from Kasabian.

It’s that distorted guitar figure, or is it that haunting vocal chant? Or maybe it’s the crashing drums? It’s all of the above all wrapped in one big cinematic package. A stunning song by any band’s standards.

3 Bumblebee – from 48:13.

A total rock monster that is the musical equivalent of being trampled by a herd of buffalo. Tom’s frenzied vocals at the start of the track and Bowie quotes make this song an absolute tour de force. It also manages to offer light and shade, making the return to each frantic chorus all the more brutally effective.

4 Stuntman – from Empire.

The band turn up the electro heat on this dance rock hybrid. A relentless runaway ride from which it’s impossible to disembark and one that perfectly exemplifies Kasabian’s split musical personality.

5 Reason Is Treason – from Kasabian.

A head down, straight forward indie rock song that became a live favourite. A track to make the first 50 rows do the bouncy castle and one that has never aged a day.
