1. When did you think about music and comedy as a career and what were your first steps into it?

At age 16 I had a motor cycle accident which laid me low for six months and I learned guitar, and on my recovery got into the folk circuit. Every time I broke a string I told a joke, and the comedy soon took over. My great inspiration's were the late great James Young and Frank Carson.

2. Best gigs you’ve been to?

U2, Michael Jackson, Liberace and Neil Sedaka. Not a bad line-up.

3. Fantasy wedding/birthday party band?

ABBA

4. The record you’d take to a desert island?

Anything from Daniel O'Donnell.

5. And the book?

The Dandy Annual.

6. Top three films?

Darby O'Gill and the Little People, Planes, Trains and Automobiles and The Quiet Man.

7. Worst film you’ve seen?

Ben-Hur.

8. Favourite authors?

John B Keane, Maeve Binchy, Roddy Doyle

9. Sport you most enjoy and top team?

I no likey sport.

10. Ideal holiday destination?

Florida.

11. Pet hate?

Pies and sandwiches with skimpy fillings and doughnuts with no jam.

12. What’s your favourite:

Dinner? Pork chops, mashed potato with chopped onion and baked beans.

Dessert? Jelly and ice cream.

Drink? A lovely pint of Guinness with a big head on it, because I was born and raised right beside the aroma of hops at St James's Gate in Dublin.

13. Who is your best friend and how do you know each other?

Eileen Doyle whom I met 45 years ago in Wexford and we know each other intimately, due to the fact that the poor girl married me and became Eileen Grace. And it doesn't get any better than that!!

14. Is there a God?

I’m with the great comedian Dave Allen, who concluded his show, each and every performance, with the words, "Goodnight and may your God go with you”. I truly believe in God.
