The Undertones 40th Anniversary Concert, Friday November 4, Millennium Forum, Derry.
DERRY punks The Undertones are currently celebrating their 40th anniversary as a live unit and would probably never be allowed back across the walls again were they not to include a hometown fixture as part of their ongoing celebratory tour.
Thus, Mickey, Billy, John, Damien and Paul will be taking to the stage at The Millennium Forum next month for a blast through their superlative back catalogue, an occasion sure to make both audience and band feel progressively younger as the years slip away in a sweaty blur of pogoing and enthusiastic sing-alongs.
Opening act Touts will be among the minority who won't be ruing their real ages the morning after: barely out of school, the pleasingly anti-fashion Derry trio specialise in a garage rocking strain of catchy punk that's timeless in its primal, instantly appealing simplicity.
Must be something in the water up there.
