100 fiddlers for inaugural Derry International Irish Music Festival

100 FIDDLERS are to perform together at the first Derry International Irish Music Festival. Fiddlers of all ages from Ireland and Scotland will perform award-winning Belfast composer Neil Martin’s 100 Fiddles, 55° North in a concert hosted by BBC Radio Ulster’s Lynnette Faye.

Nollag Casey and Seamus McGuire are among guest performers, as is the newly established Foyle Fiddle Orchestra. The concert will also mark the opening of Derry’s academy of traditional music.

The concert will be held at the end of a week-long festival featuring 26 events across eight days featuring performances, workshops and Irish-language courses, many free.
