Kenmare - medium sized town on the River Kenmare, base for tours of the
Ring of Kerry, Kenmare Heritage Centre (Tel: 064 41491), Kenmare
Lace and Design Centre which has examples of hand made needlepoint
lace a traditional craft started at the Kenmare Poor Clare Convent
in the 19th century, large Bronze Age Druid Circle and dolmen,
Our Lady's Holy Well. Boat trips around Kenmare Bay and to Sneem
Harbour run from Kenmare pier (Tel: Seafari River Cruises 064
83171), craft shops, eateries, pubs, camping, bicycles for hire.
During the Kenmare Walking Festival in May walks are organised
into the hills around Kenmare and along the River Kenmare.
Kilgarvan - historical walking tours from the Michael J Quill Memorial
Centre around the Roughty Valley which include the ruined Ardtully
Castle and the grave of the 13th century chieftain Donal McCarthy,
(Tel: 064 85511), seatrout and salmon fishing on the Roughty and
Slaheny Rivers. Nearby Gurteen Stone Circle.
Portmagee - boats to the Skelligs and Beginish Islands, landbridge to Valentia

Ballybunion - popular seaside resort and beach with Seven Sisters sea cave
Ballyduff - well preserved 10th century Ratoo round tower
Ballylongford - small village near Tralee with two interesting ruins nearby,
the Carrigafoyle Castle built in the 15th century by the ruling
O'Connor family overlooking the Shannon Estuary which was ruined
by Cromwell's forces in 1649 and a ruined Franciscan friary, Lislaughtin
Abbey, which was also founded by the O'Connors.
Banna - popular long Banna Strand beach safe for swimming, campsite,
beach memorial to Roger Casement who was executed in 1916 after
bringing rifles, to assist the rebels in the Easter Rising against
the British, into Ireland at Banna Strand
Fenit - Fenit Seaworld aquarium with touch pools, (Entry IR£4)
Listowel - May Writers Festival, September horse racing festival (Listowel
tourist office Tel: 068 22590)

Castleisland - Crag Caves
Farranfore - Air Kerry Airport (Tel: 066 64644) is around ten miles from
Killarney
Killarney - largest town in County Kerry which is totally geared up for
tourism, lakes of Killarney, Killarney National Park, jaunting
cars from Killarney around the lakes of Killarney and through
the Gap of Dungloe, bicycles for hire, accommodation, shopping,
eateries, nearby camp site, Museum of Irish Transport with vintage
cars and bicycles, large 19th century Saint Marys Cathedral, Killarney
indoor Model Railway of Europe (Tel: 064 34000) touristy music
pubs, coach trips around Killarney National Park, the Ring of
Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula run regularly from Killarney in
