NICK WILLIAMS insists he will give everything to the Ulster cause until the end of the season after it was announced he will join Cardiff in the summer.

The 32-year-old will leave Kingspan Stadium at the end of his contract to join fellow Guinness PRO12 club Cardiff on a long-term contract. Having previously played for Auckland Blues, Aironi and Munster, Williams joined Ulster in 2012 and was named as the PRO12 Player of the Season at the end of his debut campaign.

After four seasons, 67 appearances and 13 tries, the powerful number eight is determined to help the province achieve its domestic and European goals before he leaves.

"Rest assured, I'll be giving everything for the team until the end of this season. We have set our targets over the next five months and I want to play my part in us achieving them," Williams said.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in Belfast. The Ulster people are special and the supporters have always been so good to me. My daughter was born in Ireland, so it will always be a special place for our family.”

His team-mate Rory Scholes paid tribute to the all-action back-row forward, lauding his ability to “put smiles on faces” with his style of play.

“Nick’s been a massive player for Ulster over the last four years. The fans at Ravenhill love watching him, his barnstorming runs and big tackles, he puts smiles on faces the way he plays. He’s so committed," Scholes said.

“Any team would miss a player like Nick, with what he brings. I think, as he said, he’ll put his all into playing for Ulster until the end of the season because he loves playing for Ulster as much as the people of Ulster love seeing Nick play.”
