Rosie can Rock at Roscommon

ROCK ON ROSIE is really starting to justify Adrian Joyce’s faith in her and can complete a hat-trick at Roscommon on Monday.

The mare is turned out quickly after scoring in good fashion at Down Royal on Friday night and can defy a 6lb penalty for that win. Like her previous win at Kilbeggan, she was pulling away at the finish and the step back up in trip here looks a plus.

She handled the softer conditions at ‘The Maze’ well and didn’t look to have too hard a race there, so the three-day turnaround doesn’t look that much of an issue. Shane Shortall has struck up a good partnership with the mare, who tended to be a bit free in her previous starts.

Baby Whizz is a bit hit-and-miss but looks on a fair enough mark back over timber and could be a danger in what looks a moderate enough contest.

The conditions hurdles over three miles has attracted a few decent sorts and Lots Of Memories looks the one they have to beat. He ran well on the Flat on his return to action at Killarney recently, and off an official mark of 146 over hurdles, he has a bit in hand on his rivals.

Waaheb didn’t convince over fences at Galway and back over timber now he may be the one to give him most to do.

Perfect Gentleman looks a better chaser than a hurdler but can’t be discounted representing strong connections.

Willie McCreery has a couple of interesting runners in the Flat handicaps and both look to have big shouts. Expreso Brasileiro ran well for a long way in a Curragh maiden when last seen in June and looks to be nicely treated off a mark of 68 for his handicap debut.

That form has worked out well and he had subsequent easy Galway winner Romiac in behind that day. He should handle the softer ground here being by Lope De Vega, who is also the sire of Fact Or Folklore.

McCreery took that filly out of a race in Killarney because of quick ground and she has already run well in testing conditions in the past. She was too free at the Curragh last time having run a big race at the same venue on her handicap debut previously.

The unexposed three-year-old still looks on a nice mark and there is scope for improvement.

Chinese Light has been a bit frustrating but should be good enough to land the fillies’ maiden while her trainer Dermot Weld can also claim the opening juvenile maiden with Sunglider.
