This weekend's road bowls fixtures

THE final of the Portmor Cup took place on the Blackwatertown Road last Sunday and although it had to go ahead without Grade Three winner John Dynes, who was snow-bound in England, the head-to-head between Gabriel McIlvanna and Barry Mallon still proved to be an enthralling affair.

It looked all to play for with the line in sight, however an error from McIlvanna at Callans Corner gave the impressive Mallon the opportunity to forge ahead and he closed out the contest and lifted the prestigious Portmor Cup.
