Hannaway shows the way to win Ulster Novice Championships

THE final of the Ulster Novice Four Championships took place on the Navan Road last Sunday evening. Representing Bol Chumann na Meirleach was Barry Corr who took on Jim Freeman (Rock Road) and Navan's Mickey Hannaway.

Corr started very well and held the lead after three shots but Hannaway hit a great fourth bowl to open the ring corner and take the lead for the first time. Freeman was trailing by a full bowl of odds but with the other two men missing, he was quickly back in contention.

Hannaway and Corr battled away with only yards separating them, but Hannaway took the lead on the last shot. Corr misplayed leaving Hannaway a comfortable winner and the new Ulster champion.
