THE International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has today revealed that Ireland’s Orla Barry has been upgraded to a silver medal for the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha.

Orla, who originally took bronze in the F57 Discus final at the Championships last October, will now have a World Championship silver medal to add to her collection following the news that Bulgarian field athlete, Stela Eneva - who originally placed second - has been suspended by the IPC for four years for an Anti-Doping Rule violation.

Her silver medal has now been awarded to the Cork athlete, whilst the bronze medal will go to Algeria’s Safia Djelal.

Barry most recently secured a gold medal at the 2016 Para-Athletics European Championships held in Grosseto, Italy at the start of this month, where she secured a new Personal Best distance of 31.18m.

The IPC is a signatory of the World Anti-Doping Code (WADC), and remains committed to a doping free sporting environment at all levels. The IPC, together with the International Federations and the National Paralympic Committees, established the IPC Anti-Doping Code to prevent doping in sport for Para athletes, in the spirit of fair play. The IPC Anti-Doping Code is in conformity with the general principles of the WADC.
