Doherty Woodshavings Antrim Junior Camogie Championship final: Brídíní Óga, Glenravel 5-10 Dunloy 3-3

THREE goals inside a five minute spell at the start of the last-quarter clinched a maiden Antrim Junior Championship title for Brídíní Óga, Glenravel in Portglenone last Saturday.

They were the better team during a tense first-half, but only pulled clear of Dunloy with a fortuitous break that left Ashling Ward kicking the sliotar over the line for an interval lead of 1-4 to 0-1. Caoimhe McAleenan picked out a pass three minutes into the second-half for Kirsten Edgar to hit the net, but Dunloy came back quickly, with goals from Mary McToal and Mary Martin in the next two attacks.

Then, 15 minutes into the second-half, Ashling Ward finished her second goal after Shauna Kelly had done the spade-work. Although Jacinta Dixon responded with a great solo goal for Dunloy, goals from Torie Edgar and Ashling Ward within three minutes killed off the Dunloy challenge for the Glenravel club to lift their second Antrim title in four days following a first ever U14 championship.

Elsewhere in Antrim, St John’s and Loughgiel held off south-west opposition to set up the final of the H McLarnon Roofing Intermediate Championship and St Paul’s, Belfast, in their 75th anniversary year, clinched the Junior Shield with a 6-10 to 2-3 win over Armoy.
