All-Ireland MHC: Galway 2-22 Antrim 0-9

GALWAY cruised past Antrim in the All-Ireland MHC quarter-final at Kingspan Breffni Park.

The Tribesmen dominated from start to finish against the Ulster champions. Evan Niland led the way scoring 1-7, while Cian Salmon also goaled in the first half to help Galway to a 1-14 to 0-4 lead at the break.

Galway added two points on the opening 10 minutes of the second half, while Antrim managed three wides.

Niland and Enda Fahy added further scores to make it 1-18 to 0-4  before Doherty Cunning broke the Antrim deadlock.

Antrim chased goals, and Galway goalkeeper Jack Forde kept out both Donal McKernan and Peter McCallion.

At the opposite end Niland cut through for Galway's second goal to ensure a 2-19 to 0-5 lead with six minutes remaining.

Doherty Cunning grabbed three of the next four points, but it was far too late for Antrim, as late scores from Jack Coyne and Martin McManus ensued a 20-point Galway win.
