CUSHENDALL are Ulster Champions for the first time since 2008 after edging a heart-stopping classic against Slaughtneil that ended 1-24 to 3-17 after extra time.

Yet again John McKillop's side found themselves facing into a deficit at the break, with a Brendan Rogers goal giving Slaughtneil a two-point lead at 1-7 to 0-8.

Michael McShane's charges grabbed their second goal through Gareth O'Kane but the Antrim champions responded with an excellent Christy McNaughton strike in the 43th minute.

Brian Cassidy got Slaughtneil's third goal, and late points courtesy of McNaughton and Neil McManus were cancelled out by Cormac O'Doherty's equaliser at the end of an engrossing 60 minutes.

After the first ten-minute period of extra time Slaughtneil held a 3-15 to 1-19 lead, but Cushendall came up trumps in an epic encounter with huge scores at the death from McManus and Conor Carson
