Armagh's Tiernan Kelly has been handed a 24-week ban after appearing to gouge the eye of Galway's Damien Comer during last Sunday's full-time fracas in the teams' All-Ireland quarter-final.

Both counties have been hit with €10,000 fines.

Armagh's Conor Turbitt and Blaine Hughes have received one-game bans along with Galway's Cathal Sweeney.

Galway captain Sean Kelly and the Orchard County's co-captain Aidan Nugent were both shown red cards for contributing to the melee by refeee David Coldrick.

Armagh issued a statement this afternoon saying they accepted the penalties.
