Clubcall - for all the latest news from clubs across Ulster

An Riocht The club has signed up to the 20x20 programme, and last week the young women who make up the club’s U16 camogie squad each received a copy of ‘Girls Play Too’, sports journalist Jacqui Hurley’s illustrated story of 25 inspiring Irish sportswomen who overcame big challenges to become celebrated role models, proving being a girl is not a barrier to success. 20x20 is a campaign aimed at creating a measurable cultural shift in the presentation and perception of female sport in Ireland. It is a broad-based approach with three key aims to boost media coverage, attendance at key events and participation each by 20 per cent

ERIN’S OWN, CARGIN: The club is hosting an open-air, socially distanced pre-championship final coffee morning from 10am-12pm at the club on Saturday. Everyone welcome.

ST JOHN’S, DRUMNAQUOILE: Club gear is available to order online via KlubFunder until September 30. The order will be here in time for Christmas so plenty of options for those stocking fillers.

BALLYMARTIN: It is a surprise to absolutely no-one in our club to see Saul reach the intermediate football final. They are managed by surely one of the most astute, passionate and skilled young coaches in the county at the moment – Ronan McCartan.

Of course we would prefer it was our own senior team in the final, but it will be fantastic to see a Ballymartin man there on the sidelines. Good luck Ronan, from all at the club, particularly the U7s, G4MO and senior ladies’ teams.

Also, the club is currently in the process of making a commemorative DVD to celebrate its centenary in 2022. We are calling on all past and present club members to contact us and share any old or recent photos and particularly video footage they might have.

It can be from a match, a club event or fundraiser, a sports day - anything at all. Much the same way the ‘Down Memory Lane’ night was such a success, this can only work if everyone contributes. Also, if there are any members or former players who would be interested in sharing a few old stories etc for the DVD, please contact any member of the committee.
