GLENN booked their place in the Down Intermediate Football Championship final after a tough encounter with St Johns GAC, Drumnaquoile.

Glenn scored three unanswered points in the opening 10 minutes and were able to maintain this lead throughout the first half.

Jack McCartan scored the standout point of the half and helped Glenn go into the break with a 0-7 to 0-4 lead.

However, St Johns’ Conor Morgan was in fine form and scored three quick-fire points in the second half to bring the teams level at 0-8 each.

Patrick Brooks fired the ball over the bar to edge Glenn back into the lead but Eoin Maog popped up with a score to draw St Johns level on 0-9 apiece.

As the game ticked over into additional time, Jarlath McConaghy scored a vital point to put Glenn ahead.

St Johns pushed forward in search of a late equaliser only for Glenn to hit them on the counter and put the game to bed with a Mattie Bagnall point.

The hard-fought 0-11 to 0-9 win sets up a showdown with Newry Shamrocks in the final.
