CAREY FAUGHS: Carey Hall is the venue for the club’s first ever Folk and Bluegrass music festival on Saturday - and it promises to be a full night’s entertainment for people of all ages.

The night gets under way at 7.30pm with a barbeque, when guests will be entertained in the open air. weather permitting. with Irish folk music from Patsy Bradley followed by Scottish folk music and dancing by 'Toss the Feathers'.

Up next are award-winning bluegrass band ‘Two Time Polka’. All the way from county Cork, they are a six-piece band whose distinctive sound has its roots in Cajun, Zydeco and Bluegrass music.

The Carey Faughs Folk and Bluegrass Festival is funded by the Key Institutions Programme, a project supported by European Union Peace IV programme managed by Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council (CCGBC) and Building Communities Resource centre (BCRC).

The club aims to provide a cross-community event which celebrates and acknowledges the shared heritage of Irish and Scottish influence in Bluegrass music, and invites people from different religious and political backgrounds to celebrate this history together and learn more about what unites us rather than what divides us.

BREDAGH: The club is offering the chance to win two tickets for both All-Ireland finals. The draw will take place tonight, and will be streamed live on Facebook. First prize is the choice of either hurling or football tickets, second prize will be the game not chosen by the first prize winner.

ST PATRICK’S, CULLYHANNA: It’s the final week of the club’s pedigree heifer draw, which concludes with the Grand Draw on Saturday, August 24. The multi-award winning herd Trueman Limousins have generously donated a prize heifer, Trueman Noleen, daughter of the world record-holding Trueman Jagger, and sister of the 2018 Balmoral Show overall champion. For only £20 you could win a prize heifer! Tickets are on sale through the club’s Facebook page.

ST BRONAGH’S, ROSTREVOR: As part of the club’s centenary celebrations, we are delighted to have Catherine McGrath in concert on Saturday, August 24. As this event is expected to be very popular, it will be a ticket-only concert. You can purchase you ticket via Eventbrite, while there are a limited number of tickets also available at the Ghan filling station, Nisa Rostrevor, Clarke’s Vivo and Ann Murphy’s. Please note this event is open to all ages.

ST JOHN’S, DRUMNAQUOILE: The next bus trip will be on Saturday, September 7 when we set sail for the Ards Peninsula for a coastal walk and a visit to Echlinville Gin Distillery. We will be leaving St John’s at 9am, £10 for bus and £15 for distillery tour and tasting.
