Donegal have been dealt a heavy blow ahead of their big Super 8s clash with Kerry, after one of their top stars has been ruled out with a serious injury.

Killybegs and Tir Conaill star Eoghan Ban Gallagher picked up a serious leg injury at training on Wednesday night.

The full extent of his injury is not known, but it is expected that he could be out for a considerable period.

The 23-year-old Gallagher has become one of Donegal’s key players with his trademark surging runs from defence.

And his speed would be vital to track a most pacey Kerry forward line.

In a game of fine margins, his enforced absence could tilt the balance slightly towards the Kingdom.

His power and raw pace are a key part of Donegal’s game and he was considered to be unlucky not to get an All-Star last year.
