Lacey set to leave Donegal setup

DONEGAL will be on the lookout for a new coach with the news that Karl Lacey is set to leave the setup.

The former Footballer of the Year, who is the county’s most decorated footballer having played 148 times for his county, stepped straight out of playing and into the management setup alongside Declan Bonner.

But The Irish News understands that, after a year in which they reclaimed the Anglo Celt Cup, Lacey will step down because of work commitments, having taken on a full-time lecturing role in Letterkenny IT.

His loss will be a blow to the Tír Chonaill setup, and it’s understood that there could be further change afoot in the closed-season.
