PETER Keane looks set to be unveiled as the successor to Eamonn Fitzmaurice as Kerry manager.

The appointment of Keane, who has led the Kerry minors to three in-a-row at All-Ireland level is expected to be formerly announced at Monday night’s meeting of the Kerry County Board.

Maurice Fitzgerald could be named as one of Caherciveen native Keane’s selectors as could Donie Buckley who served in Jack O’Connor’s management team bac k in 2012.

Meanwhile, Wayne Kierans has been confirmed as Louth’s new senior football manager for the 2019 season. The O’Connells clubman succeeds Pete McGrath in the role and has been handed a two-year term by the board.

Having previously managed the Wee County’s minor footballers, Kierans has beat off competition from London manager Ciaran Deely and Meath native Kit Henry to take the post.

McGrath stepped down in frustration after Louth’s 2018 season had ended in a 10-point defeat to Leitrim in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.

Louth were relegated from Division Two without winning a game and their losing streak continued when they lost to Carlow in the Leinster Championship.

The ‘Wee county’ rallied briefly to beat London in the Qualifiers but Leitrim ended their summer with a 0-25 to 1-12 win.
