ULSTER GAA looks sets to raise the price of tickets for provincial championship games in 2018.

Provincial secretary Brian McAvoy said in his annual report, which he will present to the Ulster convention in Ballybofey next Friday, that a review of prices is needed as the cost of attending games Ulster is “well below” that of other provinces.

The price of tickets purchased on matchday was again frozen in 2017 although there was a slight increase on the price of pre-purchase tickets, which McAvoy says have become “more and more popular”.

A seated ticket for last year’s Ulster final cost €30 (£25), compared to €35 (£31) in Connacht and Leinster, and €40 (£35) in Munster.

“Ticket prices were again frozen by Ulster GAA in 2017 but this needs to be reviewed in 2018 as Ulster prices are now well below that of the other provinces for comparable fixtures,” said McAvoy.

“For example, a stand ticket for other provincial finals was on average 17% more expensive than in Ulster, while provincial final terrace tickets were 38% more expensive in the other provinces.”
