Crossmaglen set for tough opening test as they chase U21 honours

FAVOURITES Crossmaglen will begin their pursuit of the Paddy McLarnon Ulster U21 Cup against Cavan champions Southern Gaels as the competition kicks off this weekend.

The ninth year of the tournament run by Creggan Kickhams was launched last week with representatives from six of the nine clubs that will take part. Antrim champions O’Donovan Rossa face Gaoth Dobhair in the opening game on Saturday, with the as-yet unknown Fermanagh representatives taking on Down’s Carryduff later the same day.

Crossmaglen will take on Cavan champions Southern Gaels at 12.30pm on Sunday, followed by the meeting of Lavey (Derry) and Galbally (Tyrone).

Monaghan champions Donaghmoyne enter the fray the following weekend, facing the winners of Rossa and Gaoth Dobhair.
