Eighteen-year-old Sarah Louise Doherty hands over a cheque for £2,385 to representatives of RABIU (Regional Acquired Brain Injury Unit). On June 11 Sarah Louise was involved in a serious car accident on her way home from training with club Ballyhegan Davitt’s, sustaining multiple fractures and soft tissue injuries, as well as a serious brain injury. The prompt response of her team-mates and the emergency services meant she was transferred to Craigavon A&E and was being treated within 40 minutes. Initial assessment resulted in a transfer to Regional ICU in Royal Victoria Hospital where she remained on a ventilator for three weeks before being transferred to the Neuroscience ward. A further three weeks on the ward saw her make an incredible recovery, astounding medics, and as a token of their gratitude to all the healthcare professionals who had a hand in Sarah Louise’s recovery, the Doherty family - in conjunction with Ballyhegan Davitt’s - arranged a fundraising coffee morning

ST PATRICK’S, DONAGHMORE: For the first time the club is hosting the Presentation Night in the Torrent Complex. This will be on Saturday, November 4 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15 each and are available from the Torrent Complex reception. The club are making great efforts to transform the hall to be a fitting venue for a great evening. The night will comprise of a fork supper of a main course, dessert and tea/coffee. This will be followed by our men’s and ladies presentations from minor to senior. Finally we will be treated to live entertainment from Daybreak.

ST BRONAGH’S, ROSTREVOR: The club will welcome former Down managers Pete McGrath, James McCartan and Jim McCorry to the clubrooms on Saturday for a special chat night. Hosting the event will be renowned coach Stephen Poacher, getting underway at 8.30pm. Tickets are available from the following outlets: Williamson's Nisa Local, Clarke's Vivo, St Bronagh's social club, Ghan Filling Station and Elmore’s Costcutters. Remaining tickets will also be available on the night.

ST MARY’S, GLASDRUMMAN: The U6/U8 squad's season came to a conclusion with an end of year trip to Coco’s. A great turnout of over 20 boys and girls enjoyed their trip and lunch. They can look forward to Glasdrumman Youth Club starting over the winter, and football will resume in the Spring. A massive thank you to all the coaches and mentors who gave their time every week.

PEADAR O DOIRNIN’S, FORKHILL: The annual 10 and 5k event takes place on Sunday. Registration will be held in the clubrooms from 9am, with the race starting at 11am. There will be a bespoke medal for all 10k finishers and certificate for all 5k finishers - 10k registration is £15 per person, 5k £5 per person or £10 per family. The charity partner for the event is Newry & District Gateway Club.

PEARSE OG, ARMAGH: The senior ladies will be holding a coffee morning on Saturday, October 28 from 10am-1pm, followed by a kids’ Halloween disco from 2pm-5pm. Prizes for the best looking cake baked for the coffee morning, and also for best costumes. The 50th/25th/20th reunion night will b held in the clubrooms on November 4.

CAREY FAUGH’S: The club is looking to appoint a senior hurling team manager. All enquiries/applications should be addressed to Michael McBride on 07867 625120. The closing date for applications is Sunday, October 29.

ST JOHN’S, DRUMNAQUOILE: The club will be arranging a bus to the Carrickdale hotel for the November 4 gala ball, leaving the club and stopping in Castlewellan. The bus will also be coming back afterwards, with stops in Castlewellan and St John’s. The cost is £5. Anyone looking to book a seat should contact Cormac on 07871 373381.

ROBERT EMMET’’S. SLAUGHTNEIL: The club is holding a gala dinner on November 4 at the Tullyglass House Hotel, Ballymena. There are a small number of tables still available. Anyone interested in attending should contact a member of the finance committee.
