TYRONE forward Adrian Cush is facing further surgery today after being involved in a car accident in France on Tuesday evening.

According to a close relative last night, he is undergoing treatment in a Bordeaux hospital and another operation could be necessary before the weekend to rectify an eye problem.

The Donaghmore man also suffered a fractured humerus in the smash, his arm broken in two places above the elbow.

CROKE PARK PRO Danny Lynch has said photographic evidence of the players who allegedly participated illegally in the New York championship final will not be used in any investigation.

Pre-final team photographs of the two sides involved in the New York final were believed to have been made available but yesterday Lynch said such evidence would not be acceptable by the investigating GAC.

MANCHESTER CITY manager Phil Neal’s future continues to hang in the balance after chairman Francis Lee refused to reveal whether the under-fire boss would still be in charge at the end of the season.

Neal has come under increasing pressure since taking over the reins from an equally beleaguered Steve Coppell, as City have slipped alarmingly towards the first division relegation zone. They currently lie in 21st place.

TIM HENMAN, serving superbly and showing no sign of nerves until the closing stages, beat American MaliVai Washington 7-6 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the Compaq Grand Slam Cup in Munich yesterday a victory that doubled his prize money earnings for the year.

The 22-year-old British star is now assured of more than £260,000 from this tournament alone and still has a chance of a winning the first prize of £1million.

But to get close to that vast sum he will have to beat three times Wimbledon champion Boris Becker in a best of five semi-final tomorrow and the odds will be stacked against him.

AN OPPONENT for Steve Collins’ sixth world super middleweight title defence will be confirmed next week.

But fight fans will be treated to a unification title bout between Prince Naseem Hamed and Tom ‘Boom Boom’ Johnson on February 8 at the London Arena in Frank Warren’s latest money-spinning fight night show.

Commonwealth champion Henry Wharton and Belfast’s Sammy Storey are among those touted for Collins’s first defence of the new year. Collins announced only a date and venue through Frank Warren at a press conference yesterday.

CELTIC fear a World Cup call-up for striker Jorge Cadete, who is expected to be named in the Portuguese squad to face Germany on Saturday, December 14. And Celtic face losing the striker for two fixtures next week as they pursue Rangers for the Scottish Championship.

Cadete is set to be with his international team-mates when Celtic play Kilmarnock at Parkhead on Wednesday, December 11, and then at Raith the following Saturday, the day of the Lisbon World Cup tie.
