St Joesph's, Coalisland beat De La Salle, Belfast to win Oisin McGrath Shield final

Oisín McGrath Shield final:

St Joseph's, Coalisland 5-6 De La Salle College, Belfast 4-4

SHEA HAMILTON was the St Joseph's hero as the Coalisland school collected the Oisín McGrath Shield after an excellent game with De La Salle College, Belfast at MUSA at the weekend.

Young Hamilton netted four times as St Joseph's eventually managed to gain the upper hand over a very well organized and determined De La Salle side. An early goal from Ryan Nelis seemed to settle the St.Joseph's lads but De la Salle hit back with two goals inside a minute from Caolan Donnelly and Ahmed Soda.

However, within three minutes, Hamilton netted the first of his four goals and St Joseph's finished the half strongly to lead at half time on a scoreline of 2-4 to 2-3. Two further Hamilton strikes in the third-quarter put St Joseph's into a six-point lead.

Tiernan Munce hit back for De La Salle, only for Hamilton to find the net again for St Joseph's fifth goal with six minutes remaining. The Coalisland boys were forced to defend in numbers, however, as De La Salle camped out in their half during those final minutes and goalkeeper Ronan Coney was called upon several times to keep his side ahead.

However, a couple of breakaway points sealed the game for St Joseph's, although La Salle had the last say in a very entertaining game, with a magnificent goal from Brian Healey.
