Karl Lacey commits to Donegal for 2017
DONEGAL boss Rory Gallagher’s hopes of returning his side to the pinnacle of the Ulster SFC has been given a massive boost with the news that Karl Lacey is remaining on board.
It’s understood the four-time Allstar and 2012 Footballer of the Year has informed the Tir Chonaill boss that he’s good to go for 2017.
With the experienced duo of Eamon McGee and Colm McFadden having already hung up their boots, 32-year-old Lacey’s commitment to another season is a huge fillip for the dressing room – while Frank McGlynn is also set to make himself available again. Gallagher will hope that another battled-hardened pair, Neil Gallagher and Rory Kavanagh, will also stay on.
It’s believed that Gallagher is leaning that direction although Kavanagh’s intentions are still unclear.
The St Eunan’s man already reversed his previous retirement decision last season and his performances in the club championship suggest he is still one of the county’s premier footballers.
