THE bookies have made Armagh the underdogs for next month’s Ulster Championship meeting with Cavan at Breffni Park, but Tony Kernan intends to prove them wrong and he’ll be hoping to win a few pounds at their expense at the My Armagh race day at Down Royal on Monday, May 2.

Kernan and his Orchard county team-mates will be attending the meeting along with manager Kieran McGeeney and a number of special guests from rugby and GAA, including RTE commentary doyen Mícheal O Muircheartaigh.

“It’s a great fundraiser to have,” said Kernan, an associate director at Lambert, Smith Hampton property consultancy.

“Everyone knows that it’s hard work raising money for club teams or for county teams and each time you go to these events, you are blown away by the generosity of the supporters and sponsors. Everyone in the panel is grateful for everything they do and we’ll all be there looking forward to having a good day.”
