McKenna Cup matches set to go ahead as planned despite freeze

The Ulster Council doesn't anticipate any McKenna Cup games being called off this weekend

THE Ulster Council anticipates that this weekend’s Dr McKenna Cup matches will go ahead as scheduled, even though overnight temperatures were forecast to fall below freezing.

Punters will have to brave bitterly cold conditions in venues across the province as five McKenna Cup matches are set to take place over the weekend.

On Friday, an Ulster Council spokesman said: “There’s nothing planned for pitch inspections at the minute.

"Obviously, with the weather, that may change but, at the moment, it’s all going ahead as far as we know.”
