ALAN BROGAN has called it a day with Dublin after an illustrious 14-year career.

The 33-year-old retires with three All-Ireland medals (2011, 2013 and 2015), as well as winning 11 Leinster titles, three Allstars and the 2011 Player of the Year award. The St Oliver Plunkett’s clubman scored 128 points and 11 goals in a career spanning 70 Championship appearances, but his impact has been curtailed in recent years with ongoing injury problems.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Brogan paid tribute to his team-mates: “Representing Dublin for the last 14 years has given me immense satisfaction and joy, both the good days and the bad.

“I leave behind a wonderfully gifted football team, but take with me many great memories, friendships and bonds”.

His former Kerry adversary, Declan O’Sullivan, has also announced his retirement from Gaelic football, one year after hanging up his inter-county boots.

The 31-year-old Dromid Pearse's clubman has five All-Ireland titles and three Allstars to his name, but confirmed on Twitter on Tuesday that he has been forced to retire through injury.
