MAYO Senior footballers have reportedly passed a vote of 'no confidence' in their joint-management team of Pat Holmes and Noel Connolly.

The Connaught Telegraph revealed that the players called for a change at the helm at a meeting in Breaffy GAA club on September 19.

In their first season in the role, Holmes and Connolly brought Mayo to a fifth Connacht success in as many years but rumours of discontent have floated to the surface in the wake of this month's All-Ireland semi-final loss to eventual champions Dublin.

It is also anticipated that Mayo County Board will call an emergency meeting to discuss the matter.

Meanwhile, at its monthly meeting the Galway County Committee reappointed Anthony Cunningham and Kevin Walsh as the county's respective Senior hurling and football managers.

The new season will be Cunningham's fifth at the helm and he will be aiming to take Galway one step further after losing this year's All-Ireland hurling final to Kilkenny.

Kevin McStay and Fergal O'Donnell are expected to be being named as Roscommon Senior footballers' new management team on a three-year term, pending approval from the County Executive.

After three years in charge John Evans stepped down from the role in the aftermath of July's qualifer defeat to Fermanagh. Mayo native McStay steered Roscommon club side St Brigids to All-Ireland club glory in 2013 and his appointment would be strongly welcomed in the county.
