IT was all too easy for Kilcar on Saturday afternoon as they drove to a 3-13 to 0-8 win over a youthful Four Masters side in Fintra.

Ryan McHugh grabbed the all- important first half goal to put the winners into a 1-3 to 0-3 half-time lead, playing into a considerable breeze. And McHugh had a big hand in Kilcar’s second goal in the 38th minute as he superbly set up Andrew McClean who finished with aplomb.

The outstanding Stephen McBrearty, who hit 1-5, struck a superb goal in the 45th minute to effectively put the winners out of sight. Karl Lacey, Barry Dunnion and the black-carded Barry Monaghan tried hard for a badly depleted Four Masters, but they never looked like troubling the lively lads from Towney.

This was an impressive victory for the League champions who march confidently into the county semi-final. And they will take some stopping on the evidence of this impressive display at Fintra.

Naomh Conaill 0-11 Termon 1-5

Misfiring Termon will rue several missed chances as they spurned a great chance to pull off a real shock against highly fancied Naomh Conaill in Ballybofey on Saturday night.

The bulk of their chances came in the opening half when they carved out opportunities but hit seven wides and dropped three good efforts short.

Hot favourites Glenties led by 0-4 to 0-3 in a low scoring opening half but could only manage one point from play with Darragh Gallagher nailing three frees to spare some considerable blushes. It looked like normal service was resuming when Naomh Conaill kicked on with Gallagher and Eoin Waide increasing their lead.

And they had opened up a four points gap midway through the second half through points from Leon Thompson and Gallagher before Termon’s Ricky Gallagher struck for the game’s only goal.

Gallagher blasted home after taking and pass from Austin Marron and veteran Johnny McCafferty levelled matters. Despite being shaken, Glenties did not falter and clinched matters through points from Thompson, Seamus Corcoran and Anthony Thompson to unimpressively advance.

St Eunan’s 3-7 Glenswilly 0-8

Reigning champions St Eunan’s blasted out a clear warning as they impressively dismissed Glenswilly in Ballybofey last night.

Three clinically converted goals, including a superb penalty in the 22nd minute from man of the match Lee McMonagle set the winners on the glory trial.

St Eunan’s were well worth their half time lead of 1-4 to 0-5 as Glenswilly relied on a well -marshalled Michael Murphy for inspiration. But the clinching score came in the 45th minute when Big John Haran tore through the centre of the Glenswilly defence and set up Conal Dunne, who did a double shimmy before cooly finishing to he the net.

Dunne’s dazzler put the winners ahead by 2-6 to 0-7 and McMonagle rounded off a memorable evening by tapping in the final goal four minutes later. An impressive display from the county champions that now meet St Michaels in the county semi-final in a fortnight.

St Michael’s 3-15 Malin 1-5

A vastly superior St Michael’s side had little difficulty in disposing of a badly outgunned Malin side in this one-sided affair in Ballybofey yesterday afternoon.

Andrew Kelly emerged as a somewhat unlikely man of the match for St Michaels’s as he finished with a total tally of 2-3 against a Malin side who failed to reproduce their form against Gaoth Dobhair.

The winners had this matter well sorted out by the interval as they deservedly led by 2-8 to 0-2.

Kelly and Ciaran Gallagher grabbed the first half goals for the winners while Colm McFadden and Michael Langan weighing in with some well struck points.

The second half was a mere canter for the winners with Malin only offering token resistance.

Paul McLaughlin got a token late goal before Kelly completed a fine day when he converted a penalty to ease St Michael’s into the county semi-final.
