THE GAA has confirmed Dublin and Armagh were each fined €6,500 as a result of a fracas prior to a challenge match between the two sides in July.

The match hit the headlines as a result of a melee involving Davey Byrne before throw-in, which left the Ballymun Kickham's man with severe facial injuries. Byrne has served a one-match ban for his involvement in the row, and Armagh and Dublin were also cited by the CCCC for 'Disruptive Conduct at Games by Players (not causing Premature Termination of a Game)'.

The Armagh and Dublin county boards chose not to accept their proposed penalty and the GAA has confirmed the Central Hearings Committee upheld the infraction last Thursday.

A proposed penalty on Jamie Clarke was also struck down by the Committee. Disciplinary action had been launched against the Crossmaglen man for his part in an incident in the All-Ireland Qualifier between Armagh and Galway on July 12.
