Red Hands see off Monaghan

HOLDERS Tyrone made it two wins from two in the U21 Shamrock Cup, seeing off Monaghan 1-15 to 0-9 after a strong second half showing at Garvaghey, writes Kevin Kelly.

The sides were level at half-time after Kieran McGeary, Lee Brennan and Mark Kavanagh traded points with Monaghan's Donal Meegan, Alan McCahey and Fergal McGeough.

But the Red Hands blitzed their opponents with 1-4 in the opening six minutes of the second half, with Mattie Walsh scoring the goal. Man-of-the-match Frank Burns led the charge with three points as Tyrone pushed for home without conceding a single point from play.
