McConnell takes reins for Armagh

ARMAGH have appointed Sylvester McConnell (above) as senior hurling team manager.

The former Middletown Na Fianna bainisteoir takes over from John Lennon and will be assisted by Pádraig O'Connor.

The pair have already been working with the team on an interim basis and guided Armagh to the final of the Conor McGurk tournament at Queen's University, Belfast following impressive wins over Down and Queen's. "We wish Sylvester, Pádraig and the senior hurlers the best of luck in the Conor McGurk tournament final and in their League and Nicky Rackard campaigns," said an Armagh spokesman.

Armagh have also confirmed their minor hurling management team. Paddy McArdle, Ciaran Breen, Jason Cahill and Mickey McCreesh will take the reins for next season.

McArdle has been involved with the Orchard county's minor hurlers for the past four years, while his three assistants step up to the county minor management for the first time.
