Down date for Oak Leafers

DERRY have named a strong line-up for their Conor McGurk tournament clash with familiar foes Down at Queen's University tonight (7.30pm), writes Cahair O'Kane. After victory over Queen's in their opening game, the Oak Leafers were felled by a Ulster University side in a challenge on Wednesday and now finish face off against Michael Johnston's side.

Veteran Mickey Conway starts at full-forward alongside Paddy Henry - who has returned to the fold after a year out - and young star Jonathan O'Dwyer.

The energetic pairing of Sean McNicholl and Niall Ferris are named at midfield, while Na Magha speedster Brendan Douban continues an introduction to county hurling at corner-back.

He plays alongside the experience of Conor Quinn and Ruairi McCloskey in a full-back line that is in front of Ballinascreen 'keeper Gareth Haskins.

Liam Hinphey is named in an experimental centre-forward role, with his brother Kevin pinning a strong half-back line of three Christy Ring Allstars - Sean McCullagh and Paddy Kelly on the two wings.
