BLACK CARD victim: DARREN McCURRY (Tyrone)

(HIS black card for a foul on Monaghan's Darren Hughes in the Ulster Championship was overturned on appeal)

"IN that Monaghan game I thought the black card I got was the turning point. I was playing well and we were getting on top and I got the black card for something so stupid. "I think it changed the game. It could have been the difference between being in an Ulster final and not. From my point of view, if the referee's not on top of his game it can be the difference between winning and losing a game. "I remember feeling I was fouled. I was on the ground and I was trying to get up and lifting my elbow. I think it was Darren Hughes just ran over the top of my arm. "I couldn't believe it when I was given a black card. "When the black card was overturned I didn't really care. The referee made a mistake. I was looking forward to winning an Ulster medal. I thought I was harshly done by. But sometimes it goes for you - sometimes it doesn't. "If you're going to give a black card in a game it needs to be the right call. It was just a free-kick. A black card is a deliberate pull-down. "We were talking at the start of the season about the black card so boys had to be more careful. I think that's why teams pulled more players back. "It nearly ruined the game. It made the game more defensive. Managers were worried about their key defenders getting black cards. So I think that's why the game has gone very defensive."
