"THERE definitely has been a clean-up in the game [of hurling]. Two years ago there were some desperate belts in games... I don't think the black card would be a bad thing in hurling. There is sometimes a snobbish element in hurling. People make the comparison between football and hurling and hurling people say: 'We don't need football rules for our game'. "But there is a lot of negative stuff that goes on in hurling - pulling and tripping. Hurling people have this opinion that there's nothing wrong with the game, but there's a lot of cynicism. Because it's so fast it's very hard to police. They have addressed it over the last two years because hurling was becoming a bit of a free-for-all. "There are an awful lot of similarities between hurling and football. There's a lot more tackling in hurling. "You watch the pre-match warm-ups of hurling teams; a lot of them are shortened possession games like in football. You never saw that in hurling before. I think you could make a case for a black card in hurling."
