Mayo tactical take...

IN their games against Cork and Galway, the Kerry duo of James O'Donoghue and Paul Geaney accounted for more than 50 per cent of their team's scores from play.

A manager like Jim McGuinness would adopt a very logical approach to this challenge.

In this year's Ulster final, McGuinness concluded that if he blotted out the threat of Conor McManus and Kieran Hughes, then Donegal would win the game. Even if Monaghan detailed extra players on Colm McFadden, McGuinness was confident that his team would generate more scores from the other sectors of the pitch.

James Horan should apply a similar course of action against Kerry. If Mayo contain O'Donoghue and Geaney, they will have a foot in the final.
